Code of Conduct
Contents
These rules apply across SVNL Studio's community: our game servers, the SVNL Discord and this website. They set out how to treat other people, what we expect from players, and what happens when someone breaks a rule.
Sections 1 to 11 apply everywhere. Each game also has its own rules page, listed in section 12.
Staff can act on what you do in any of these places. Something you say in Discord can lead to a ban from a game server, and the other way around.
Links to this Code of Conduct, the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy are posted in the Discord's verification channel and in a general channel. To verify in the Discord, you have to agree to all three. You need to be a verified Discord member to play on the FiveM server, and creating a website account asks you to accept them as well.
Staff judge each case on what a rule is meant to stop, not only on its exact wording, so a loophole won't get you off.
1. The basics
- You must be 18 or older to join the Discord, create a website account or play on the FiveM server.
- Follow the terms of the platforms we use, including Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Each game's section lists the platform terms for that game.
- You're responsible for anything done on your accounts, even if someone else was using them. Don't let anyone else use your accounts.
- These rules sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- If you're not sure whether something is allowed, ask staff before you do it.
2. Respect
Your character can be rude, dishonest or a criminal. The person behind the character still has to treat other players with respect.
The following are banned in character and out of character. Calling it roleplay doesn't make it acceptable.
- Harassing or bullying someone, or following one player across scenes, characters or platforms to target them.
- Hate speech, slurs, or attacks on someone's race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or similar traits.
- Threats against a real person.
- Sharing someone's personal information without their permission (doxxing), such as their real name, address, photos or other accounts.
- Sexual harassment or unwanted sexual comments.
- Any sexual content involving minors. This is an immediate permanent ban and may be reported to police.
Each game's rules list the roleplay topics that are banned or need everyone's agreement first. For FiveM, see the FiveM server rules.
3. Cheating, exploits and ban evasion
- No cheats, mod menus, injectors, aimbots, wallhacks or other software that gives you an advantage or affects other players.
- No scripts or macros that play for you.
- No exploiting bugs, such as duplicating items or money, getting through walls, or using broken mechanics to get ahead. If you find a bug, report it privately in a ticket in the SVNL Discord and don't tell anyone else how it works.
- No ban evasion. Don't use a second account, a friend's account or a new game licence to get around a ban.
Each game's rules say which client-side mods, if any, are allowed. On the FiveM server, graphics, texture and sound packs are allowed within the limits in its rule 9.2, and nothing else is.
Staff can remove anything gained through cheating or exploits. Cheating and ban evasion usually go straight to a permanent ban.
4. Advertising
Don't advertise other servers, Discords, communities or paid services anywhere in SVNL, including in direct messages to SVNL members, unless staff have approved it. That covers links, invite codes and recruiting players.
Sharing your own stream links in the stream links channel isn't advertising. Section 7 explains where and how.
5. Real-money trading and scams
In-game money, items, vehicles and characters in any SVNL game have no real-world value. Don't buy, sell or trade them for real money, gift cards, crypto, items in other games or anything else outside SVNL. Don't sell, buy or share accounts either.
When the SVNL store is available, the only thing you'll be able to pay real money for is the SVNL subscription, sold through Tebex.
Never scam anyone out of real money, subscriptions or accounts, and don't use staff names or fake screenshots to trick someone. Each game's rules say whether in-character scams are allowed. For FiveM, see the FiveM server rules.
6. Discord and the website
- Keep each channel on topic. Use tickets in the SVNL Discord for reports, appeals and help.
- No spam, flooding or mass pings. Don't ping staff for something a ticket can handle.
- No NSFW content anywhere in the SVNL Discord.
- On the website, follow the Terms of Service. Don't try to get into other people's accounts or get around security checks.
7. Streaming and recording
You can stream and record your gameplay on SVNL. Streamers have no extra requirements beyond these rules, and you're responsible for what you stream and post.
Streamers get exactly the same tools and access as every other player. Special access is only given on special request, and only if the owner or co-owner decides to allow it.
Our games happen in shared spaces. Anything you do in a public scene may end up in another player's stream or recording, and SVNL can't control every recording.
- Don't use streams to get information in game. On the FiveM server, that's metagaming.
- Don't show tickets, reports, private Discord channels or anyone's personal information on stream.
- Follow your streaming platform's own rules.
- You can share your own stream links in #content-promotion in the SVNL Discord. This is an exception to the advertising rule in section 4. Don't post stream links anywhere else.
Recording also helps if something goes wrong. A clip is the best evidence you can give staff.
8. Reporting a problem
Report rule breaks by opening a ticket in the SVNL Discord. You'll find it linked as Support on this site. You can also email support@svnlstudio.com.au.
Include:
- who was involved (character names, and server IDs if you have them)
- the date and roughly what time it happened
- what happened, in your own words
- any clips or screenshots, with enough before the incident to show how it started
You can trim clips, but don't edit them in any other way.
Report within 48 hours of the incident. We'll still look at a later report if there's a good reason it took longer.
If you can, finish the scene first and report it afterwards. Don't wait if it involves harassment, hate, cheating or someone's safety.
Don't argue about it in game or in public channels, and don't take revenge. Keep the details between you and staff. Making a false report, or reporting someone to get back at them, is itself a breach of these rules.
Staff will review the report, may ask the people involved for their side, and then decide what to do. We may not tell you the outcome of a report about another player.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 000. You can report serious online abuse to the eSafety Commissioner at https://www.esafety.gov.au.
9. Staff
Staff make calls in the moment so scenes can keep going.
- In game, do what staff ask straight away, even if you disagree. Take it up afterwards in the SVNL Discord.
- Don't argue with staff decisions in public channels or in the middle of a scene.
- Be honest with staff. Lying to staff, whether in a report, an appeal or anywhere else, breaks these rules.
- Staff can act on behaviour these rules don't list if it harms other players or SVNL.
- Staff follow these rules too. If you think a staff member got something wrong or misused their role, tell us in the SVNL Discord or at support@svnlstudio.com.au.
Staff impersonation
Don't pretend to be staff or claim to speak for staff, in game, in Discord or anywhere else. That includes names or profile pictures made to look like a staff member's, and saying staff allowed something when they didn't.
Appeals
You can appeal a staff decision at any time. There's no time limit. To appeal:
- Open a ticket in the SVNL Discord, the same way you would for a report (section 8).
- Say which decision you're appealing, what happened, and why you think it should change.
- Wait for a reply. Don't open duplicate appeals or chase staff in DMs.
We aim to reply within 7 days. Complex cases can take longer.
Where possible, a staff member who wasn't involved in the decision reviews the appeal. Appeals against permanent bans are reviewed by a senior staff member, the owner or the co-owner. The owner and co-owner have the final say.
Lying in an appeal, or evading a ban while it's open, ends the appeal.
10. Enforcement
Staff choose a response that's proportionate to how serious the breach was and the circumstances around it, including whether it was deliberate and your history. The usual steps are:
- Warning
- Kick from the server
- Temporary ban, for a length staff decide
- Permanent ban
Staff can skip steps. Serious breaches, such as cheating, hate speech, doxxing, real-money trading or ban evasion, can lead straight to a permanent ban.
A punishment can cover a game server, the Discord, your website account or all of them. Staff can also remove money, items or progress connected to a breach.
The rules apply the same way to everyone, including subscribers and streamers.
Staff keep a record of warnings and bans. A warning expires after 90 days if you don't break the rules again in that time.
11. Changes to these rules
We may change these rules. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and we'll announce significant changes on this site or in the Discord. If you keep playing after a change, the new rules apply to you.
12. Game rules
The roleplay rules for the FiveM server are on the FiveM server rules page.
